With a unique nod to architecture, our company logo is patterned after a common plant of the Mediterranean, the Acanthus Leaf, which often forms the characteristic decoration of Corinthian columns. Some say the acanthus, one of the oldest flowers in the Mediterranen area, represents long life.
History
Established as a premier custom home builder in 1992, Acanthus Homes is a family owned business following a tradition inspired by their grandfather, who was a master carpenter in the northern climates over 60 years ago. Our philosophy emphasizes building homes with solid foundations and superior frames that are braced with more timber and steel than the industry standard, because if the basics of the house are right the final product will be a great one. Our team effort includes working with architects and designers to maximize our creative ability to design and build the home of your dreams.
About the Builder
The trio of brothers, Michael, Patrick and Thomas Jude, decided fate was at work when they all eventually settled in Austin, Texas. With each one bringing their brand of expertise, which included finance and management; masonry, electrical, and plumbing; commercial building and even the contruction of dome homes; it seemed only natural for the brothers to form what eventually became Acanthus Homes.
Our superior homes can now be found in Cimarron Hills, Crystal Falls, Westminster Glen, Barton Creek, Riverplace, Sundance Ranch, and other beautiful neighborhoods.
Our Business Focus
Building Dome Homes in the early 70's was a cool thing; but building green in the economical and environmental climates of today is a necessary edge, and Acanthus Homes is committed to doing so. While many of our homes already reflect higher standards that are just now becoming headline news; it is our intention to continue evolving further into the Green, energy star homes helping to educate our clients in the process.
We are active in the City of Austin and HBA training to stay abreast of guidelines for building green, and partner with other entities for building green in the Austin area. We are members in good standing with the TRCC and are members of HBA and NAHBA.
